The Artisans' Galleria Closed

Category: 2011 News and Media

We would like to inform everyone that our Artisans’ Galleria in Garden City Shopping Centre is now closed.

We want to thank everyone who supported our Galleria in its various locations for many years. We also want to assure the public that while the Galleria is closed the Community Arts Council of Richmond is still alive and well and making plans for future events and exhibitions.

We plan to continue the mandate we have held

for over 41 years which is to support the arts, artists and artisans in Richmond. We will maintain our website, www.richmondartscouncil.org, and our members will still be able to feature their work on this site. We will post upcoming events and other items of interest so please check back to receive updates.

The CACR is involved in a number of upcoming opportunities pertaining to the arts in our community. We are currently participating in the City of Richmond’s Arts Strategy meetings with a look to the arts in Richmond for the future.

A charity weekend will be held in September 17 and 18th for the CACR at Phoenix Perennials. They are located on 6 Road just north of Cambie. During that weekend stop buy and pick up a plant or some bulbs and mention the CACR and Phoenix Perennials will donate 25 percent of your purchase back to us.

We are also developing strategies for participation in the Canada-wide Culture Days, a volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Culture Days takes place on Sept. 30, Oct 1, and 2.

In addition, several of our members will be in attendance and selling at the Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market on August 21. Stop by and say hello, we would love to see our friends and supporters.

While we are sad to say goodbye to our Artisans’ Galleria, we welcome the opportunity to restructure and better serve the arts in Richmond.
